🌍 Understanding the World Cup
⚽ What is the FIFA World Cup?
The FIFA World Cup is the biggest football (soccer) tournament on the planet. It happens every 4 years. In 2026, for the first time ever, it's hosted across 3 countries: the USA, Canada and Mexico — with 48 national teams competing across 104 matches over about 6 weeks.
📅 How the tournament works
1
Group Stage (June 11–27)
48 teams split into 12 groups of 4. Every team plays 3 games. Top 2 from each group advance, plus the 8 best 3rd-place teams — total 32 teams move on.

2
Round of 32 (June 28–July 3)
32 teams play head-to-head knockout matches. Lose and you're out. If it's a draw after 90 min, there's extra time — and if still tied, a penalty shootout decides the winner.

Round of 16 (July 4–7)
Also called "Octavos de Final". 16 teams remain. Same knockout format — one game, winner advances.

🎯 What is the Prode?
A Prode (short for "pronóstico deportivo") is a prediction league — you guess the score of each match before it starts, earn points based on how right you were, and compete against your friends on the leaderboard.
You don't need to know football deeply. Even a lucky guess on the exact score earns big points. Anyone can win!

❓ Common questions
Can I edit my prediction?
Yes, up until 1 hour before the match starts. After that it's locked.
Do I need to predict every match?
No, but you only earn points for matches you've predicted. The more you fill in, the better your chances.
What if a knockout game ends in a draw but I didn't pick penalties?
You still get points for the score and outcome (draw) — just no penalty bonus.
